Have you ever had a rock collection? My Dad has a massive rock (Mineral) collection, no two are the same. They are all unique and beautiful. Now our grandchildren have been mesmerized by his collection and have become enthusiastic collectors themselves.
Though my Dad is very knowledgeable about his hobby and shared it with us he also took the time to explain to us about another rock that was more precious and valuable than any of his rocks, and that rock is JESUS CHRIST!
He explained to us like his rock collection we too are unique, no one else is like us. We are precious and beautiful, a bit rough in places but if we wanted to be the best we needed to allow Jesus to shape us into who He created us to be.
All through the bible it tells of Christ as our Rock and what a blessing it is to be living upon Him.
Let me share a little bible story with you. Look in the bible Matthew 7:24 -27, it tells us about two men one wise and one foolish…
A WISE man built his house upon a rock: and when the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house, it stood strong, for it was founded upon a ROCK! But the foolish man built his house upon the sand: and the rain came and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house and it fell, and great was the fall of it.
Christ is the ROCK and if we build our house, or our lives, on Him, we will not have to fear the storms of life which may come our way. For He is there to always help us in the time of need.
John 16:33 says, “In the world you shall have trouble: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” We are in the world and because we live in the world, situations and troubles will come from time to time, but building our life in Jesus, we, through Him, can overcome our problems.
In Psalms 18:2, it says “The Lord is my ROCK, my fortress, my deliverer…in whom I take refuge.” It’s a wonderful feeling to know we have someone to turn to that loves us more than we’ll ever know, and has all the power of the universe to help us out of our troubles! He has certainly helped me.
Everything I tried to do in my life without God, ended up falling short of my goal. I could never be completely satisfied. After, Jesus became my ROCK and FOUNDATION my life took on a new meaning. Building our lives with Jesus in the centre, gives us not only a sense of security, but a confidence and assurance that our life has meaning, purpose and direction! We all need a purpose for living.
I hope that you will not waste years of your life building on sand. I don’t ever want to go back to doing life my way – living on the sand! What a scary thought!
I encourage you NOW, TODAY, to seek God, and start your building the right way. Build on JESUS CHRIST, the ROCK!
JESUS is my ROCK!
Can you say He is your ROCK?
