We look forward to meeting you!

Be Still

Still-lake-2

Someone once wrote: “If satan can’t make you bad, he’ll make you busy.” In today’s lifestyle how true that statement is.

We are so busy, just trying to keep up with all that we are supposed to do in a day, and yet God reminds us in Psalm 46:10 to, “Be still and know that I am God.”

We need to keep our days simple.

To simplify means: “Remove anything that complicates your life, preventing you from freely pursuing your purpose for living. . .while enjoying the journey.”

If the devil can’t make you bad, he’ll make you busy. He’ll keep you so busy doing good things that you won’t have time for the best things. We need to be disciplined and not try to do it all, but do what matters the most. We can be so driven to achieve, we don’t allow space for the Holy Spirit to grow within us. It always seems life is more important in the moment than focusing on quietening ourselves down and being led by the Holy Spirit.

We should be determined to never let anything or anyone keep us from spending time with our Heavenly Father. Giving God priority will keep us connected, and our spiritual hearing would be more sensitive to the Spirit of God.

Hebrews 12:1 (Amp) “…let us strip off and throw aside every encumbrance (unnecessary weight) and that sin which so readily (deftly and cleverly) clings to and entangles us, and let us run with patient endurance and steady and active persistence the appointed course of the race that is set before us…”

We sang a song by Reuben Morgan on Sunday that resonated in my spirit deeply.

STILL
Hide me now, Under Your wings
Cover me, Within Your mighty hand

When the oceans rise, and thunders roar
I will soar with You, above the storm
Father you are King, over the flood
I will be still and know, You are God

Find rest my soul, in Christ alone
Know His power, in quietness and trust

As we still ourselves, from the voices and commitments in our day and give God space in our agendas, we let go of trusting in ourselves and begin to fully trust and rely on and in Him. No matter what comes our way, whether it’s the storms of life, the busyness of a day, as we “set our minds on things above, and not on things here on earth” (Colossians 3:2) we won’t be distracted from hearing God’s voice whispering to us throughout our day. (Psalm 62:5-12)
